A Poem
The sun is setting unseen tonight
Behind a sheet of white-gray clouds
That seems to encompass the earth
Like a blanket of sleep
or gloom
or serenity.
Water trickles down from the heavens,
Plink-plinking on the sidewalk,
And they all race to find a place to hide,
But I take my time,
Letting every cool drop of liquid life
Sink into my thirsty skin.
I close my eyes, and forget
That the people exist.
Click my heels together
Three times,
And I’m back home.
