Dandelion Tea
Sipping dandelion tea
On the back porch swing,
Looking out upon the sea,
So perfect, so alluring,
Calling out my name
As the tides rush in,
Wash away the castle corridors
And all the pain,
And the seashells sing,
Like sirens telling a story.
There's no escaping.
The air feels wet and stormy.
And their voices have brought down
Kingdoms in this land,
Kingdoms built by hand,
Kingdoms well-planned,
Kingdoms we used to make
When we were kids,
Using buckets
And ice-cream lids,
Building up our fortress
To keep us safe and warm,
Where we could live alive,
Away from every harm
Of growing up,
Of growing old,
Of forgetting friends,
Of getting cold,
Losing faith,
Falling from grace,
Making mistakes,
All alone.
Sipping dandelion tea,
On the back porch swing,
Looking out upon the sea,
So perfect, so alluring.
On the back porch swing,
Looking out upon the sea,
So perfect, so alluring,
Calling out my name
As the tides rush in,
Wash away the castle corridors
