God Dances Naked
Tonight, sleep nimbly escapes
Everyone and everything.
The sky grows soft.
The tired lullabye's descend,
But the shutting of our eyes
Is declined.
I look out the window
And see God dancing naked
On the moon,
Tossing stars into the
Evening sky,
Coughing up brilliance
And sparks of hope,
All the while twirling diamonds
On the tips of his fingernails.
He hums a song so beautiful
The birds get dizzy jealous
And every beast and woman
Dances in his prescence,
Dances in the name
Of LOVE.
Everyone knows
The dogs only bark
When they are afraid,
And everyone knows
We're only afraid
Of our own
Mistakes.
I'm washing life and routine away,
Scrubbing out flaws and stains
To start anew,
But God only parts
His red lips to
Laugh at my futile attempts
To erase the past.
The poet combs the world
For personality,
Then carefully selects
Usually unusual words
To relate the suprising beauty
And ugliness he has learned of
And become.
It's time I learn to accept
My ugliness
And appreciate
My beauty.
Sleep nimbly escapes us
As we watch God dance
Naked on the moon.
Everyone and everything.
The sky grows soft.
The tired lullabye's descend,
But the shutting of our eyes
Is declined.
I look out the window
And see God dancing naked
On the moon,
